Nutrition Refined is a place for me to share my passion about nutrition and whole foods. All of my recipes are plant-based, naturally gluten-free, refined-sugar free, and full of nutrients.
My goal is to inspire and empower you to find your healthiest life through nutritional advice and simple, delicious recipes. As the field of nutrition and fitness is constantly evolving, so are my thoughts and ideas. My practice will always reflect this as I grow and learn through new research.
Who Am I
I’m Petra, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and a Fitness Trainer. I am not a raw foodist, vegan, vegetarian, or paleo. I simply love whole food in its purest form. My diet consists mostly of plants – vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Organic whenever the budget allows. The more nutrient-dense, the better. I try to make eating whole foods simple, enjoyable, and adaptable to all diets (vegan, vegetarian, paleo, gluten-free, refined sugar-free).
Over the years, I’ve learned what my body needs to feel balanced and amazing. I know that if I listen to my body, it will take care of itself and be in a perfect state naturally. Counting calories and dieting doesn’t work for me. I started Nutrition Refined to help you find your inner health and help you look and feel your best.
Why I Do What I Do
I became a holistic nutritionist and a fitness instructor because nutrient-dense food and exercise literally changed my life. As a teenager I struggled with weight and low self-esteem. I was confused about what foods I should be eating and how to exercise to reach my optimum weight. There was so much conflicting information out there and I just couldn’t make sense out of it. It was so frustrating!
So I decided to enroll in a program to become a holistic nutritionist and learn about my body, mind, and how to take care of myself in a holistic, natural way. I started by replacing processed food, refined sugars, dairy, and gluten, with nourishing foods. Within days, I noticed an immense change in my energy and athletic performance. I took up running, started lifting weights and training for a triathlon. Changing my lifestyle was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
It’s not only my diet that makes me feel vibrant though. I truly believe that exercise has the ability to energize and exhilarate. I’m literally looking forward to my workouts and can’t imagine my life without exercise. It’s addictive, you know?
