Vitamix Warranty
Length
One of the perks of owning a Vitamix blender is a great warranty. The length of Vitamix warranty differs between products. However, the coverage and benefits are identical.
Here’s a summary of all the warranties Vitamix offers:
- 10-year warranty: all new Smart System blenders, including the Ascent and Venturist models, are covered by a 10-year warranty. This is the longest warranty Vitamix offers and a standout warranty that beats the majority of other blender brands. The only blender on the market that comes with such a long warranty is the Blendtec Professional 800.
- 7-year warranty: all new Legacy blenders, including the Classic and Next Generation models, come with a 7-year warranty. A seven-year warranty is still nearly unheard of in the blender industry and a testament to the quality and reliability of Vitamix products.
- 5-year warranty: all new Explorian blenders have a five-year warranty. The shorter warranty period doesn’t mean that Explorian blenders don’t last as long as the other Vitamix models. It simply reflects the lower price tag. Most certified reconditioned Vitamix models also come with a five-year warranty.
- 3-year warranty: while still generous, the three-year warranty is the shortest warranty Vitamix offers. (For a comparison, most standard blenders come with a one-year warranty.) The three-year warranty applies to reconditioned Explorian blenders, containers and attachments (purchased separately*). It also covers the immersion blender and FoodCycler FC-50.
*The container that comes with your machine is covered for the length of the Vitamix blender warranty.
Extended Warranty
If you’d like to extend the warranty of your blender, Vitamix offers an additional 3-year warranty for new Legacy and Explorian blenders. This brings the total warranty up to 10 years and eight years respectively.
The extended warranty costs $75 if you get it within the first 30 days of purchasing the blender. You can also get the extended warranty up through the end of the original warranty period for $120.
Registration
Registering a Vitamix blender is not a requirement for service. If your machine ever needs a repair, you can simply call the Vitamix customer service team and provide them with your blender serial number found on the back or on the bottom of the motor base, under the bar code.
However, registering does streamline service requests and ensures efficient service. It also helps Vitamix update you with product notifications as necessary, for instance, in case of voluntary recalls.
If you purchased a Vitamix blender directly from the Vitamix website, Vitamix outlet store, or by calling Vitamix directly, your warranty is automatically registered. If you bought it at a Vitamix show or from another online store or retail location, you can register your Vitamix online. Finally, if you purchased outside the US or Canada, you will need to contact your local dealer for product registration.
Coverage
Vitamix stands behind its products with a full warranty, covering all parts, performance and labor.
According to the Vitamix website, “if the Blender fails (…) due to a defect in material or workmanship or as a result of normal wear and tear from ordinary household use, Vitamix will, within 30 days of receipt of the returned blender, repair the failed Blender or component part of the Blender free of charge. If, in Vitamix’s sole discretion, the failed Blender or component part of the Blender cannot be repaired, Vitamix will elect to either (A) replace the Blender free of charge or (B) refund the full purchase price to the owner, unless Vitamix receives prior written notice of the owner’s preference.”
In other words, the Vitamix blender warranty covers:
- A full-service inspection
- Replacement(s)
- Repair
- Shipping
The only thing the Vitamix warranty does not cover are cosmetic changes that do not affect performance, such as discoloration.
Of course, the Vitamix blender warranty is only valid if the blender was used in accordance with the instructions and warnings in the owner’s manual. What voids the warranty is:
- Failure to follow the operating instructions in the owner’s manual
- Abuse, misuse, negligent use, or exposure to extreme conditions
- Use of unauthorized attachments and/or accessories
- Unauthorized repairs
- Commercial use on a personal machine
Shipping
If your blender needs to be repaired or serviced, Vitamix will send you a pre-paid shipping label and a return authorization number. You don’t pay for anything! Vitamix will cover the shipping both ways within the US and Canada.
This is quite rare for household products. Typically, the company at fault requires you to pay for the shipping.
Commercial Vitamix Warranty
Businesses including Starbucks, Smoothie King, Booster Juice, or Orange Julius, rely on Vitamix to make their signature drinks. Indeed, making hundreds of smoothies and Frappuccinos each day requires a top of the line commercial blender. Vitamix blenders have a very good reputation in the market not only for their outstanding performance and quality, but also exceptional warranty.
Commercial blenders are backed by a three-year component warranty with one year on labor. Blade assembly, container, etc., have a one-year warranty.
Q&A for Vitamix Buyers
How do I take advantage of the Vitamix warranty?
If your blender needs servicing or repair, contact the Vitamix customer service at 800.848.2649 (Mon – Fri 8am-8pm EST and Sat 9am-5pm EST). If they can’t solve your issue over the phone, they will send you a a pre-paid shipping label and a return authorization number.
Is Vitamix warranty transferable?
Yes! Vitamix will honor the remaining warranty based on the original date of purchase.
How can I tell if my Vitamix blender is under warranty?
To find out how many years are remaining on your warranty, contact the Vitamix customer service and have your serial number available. The serial number can be found on the back or bottom of your machine’s motor base, under the bar code.
Is the warranty the same on Vitamix blenders from Costco?
Yes! Regardless of where you bought your blender, it is covered by a warranty.
Be careful when buying a Vitamix from third party sellers including Craigslist, eBay, etc. Third-party sellers are not official Vitamix retail partners. The machines might still be covered by warranty, but always check directly with Vitamix.
Why do different Vitamix models come with different warranty?
The warranty period reflects the price of the blender. The cheaper the machine, the shorter the warranty. It does not reflect the quality of the blender.
Is the extended warranty worth it?
The extended coverage might be worth it if you are going to put more wear on the machine than the average home user Vitamix is expecting. For instance, if you have a big family and will be using your Vitamix several times a day, every day, the extended warranty will take care of anything that happens for an extra three years.
Does Vitamix offer a life-time warranty?
No. The longest warranty is 10 years.
How long do Vitamix repairs take?
Repairs normally take 2-3 business days to complete. Contact Customer Service for an estimated delivery time, and have your serial number available at the time of the call.
What if my blender needs a repair after the warranty has expired?
Vitamix is able to service machines up to 20 years old, depending on availability of parts.

I want to know when my warranty expires. I looked for the serial number but did not see any numbers saying serial#. Here is what I show on the bottom(no numbers anywhere else on the machine) :
Jan5-2015
item 001794-2916
model VM0158-codeADA2
UPC 001794141223014655
Thank you
Hi Nina – there should be a bar code on the back or bottom of your machine and the serial number should be right below the bar code.
I brought a Vitamix Blender few years ago and the seriel number is 010214140729147522. May I know what is the model and how many years is the warranty?
Hi Chuah – unfortunately, I can’t tell you what model you have just based on the serial number. A Vitamix representative could look that up though: https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/customer-service/contact-us
I could figure it out if you let me know what container you have (64-oz vs. 48-oz; if 64-oz – tall or the low-profile) and what the control panel looks like (does it have a pulse button? how many speeds? any preset programs?)
